Blessed to be an American
Those words I say with pride
Giving thanks to all our soldiers
Who went and fought and died

The

American

 Soldier

If not for those brave soldiers
The words and thoughts you see
Could never have been written
They’ve given all to keep us free

They did it for their families
For neighbors like you and I
They knew the price of freedom
Went knowing they might die

No way for us to pay them
Or replace those lives now lost
Gave all when they were needed
Knowing freedom worth the cost

Never should we take for granted
The rights we have to do and say
So much is owed to soldiers past
And those who fight for us today

So when you hear the anthem
Or see Old Glory in the sky
Thank the American soldiers
Who went and fought and died
